Description

Here is my M41... located in Canis Major at about 2,300 light years distant. This is a relatively young cluster made up of some red giants along with white dwarfs. It is supposedly approximately 190 to 260 million years old.

(Wikipedia and messier-objects.com)

It was noted in the Wikipedia article that there are several curved groups of stars in this cluster. I've seen them in other globulars and open clusters and find them to be interesting. It would seem those stars that are within a "curve" must be very closely related...

Anyway, I find these open clusters very beautiful and it fit just right in the FOV of the C9.25 with HyperStar. I usually take a lot of care to arrange my power and data chords properly to have diffraction spikes similar to a Newt or RC, but it appears the power chord slipped. That resulted in the spikes that are not 90 deg. separated...

Comments/criticism always welcome and Clear Skies!

Mike
